South Florida Faces Flooding, Heavy Rain
King tides and persistent northeast winds are already flooding roads, parking areas and other vulnerable locations across South Florida, with coastal flooding expected to worsen around Sunday and Monday’s high tides. Heavy rain is forecast from the weekend into early next week, with 3 to 5 inches possible in South Florida and localized flash-flood risk; Sunday may be the wettest day, especially near the coast. Strong winds and rough surf are also raising concerns about dangerous rip currents and beach conditions along Florida’s east coast. Residents and drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads, use caution during high tides and heed beach warnings.
