San Francisco I-80 Reopens After Weekend Delays
Caltrans closed westbound Interstate 80 between Fifth and 15th streets in San Francisco for weekend work applying a polyester-concrete overlay to the aging freeway deck. The closure caused slow traffic on the approach from the Bay Bridge and backups on nearby city streets, with officials advising drivers to consider transit or alternate routes. Crews finished ahead of schedule, reopening all lanes and ramps at 3:32 a.m. Monday. Caltrans also scheduled a full weekend closure of southbound U.S. 101 at Hospital Curve for Nov. 6–9 to complete repaving, with southbound I-280 suggested as an alternate.
