Flood Alerts Issued in California, Texas; Jamaica Lifts Warnings
A National Weather Service flood watch for San Bernardino County is in effect from late Saturday through 1 a.m. Monday, with heavy rain posing a flash-flood risk, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. A flash-flood warning was issued for the Ruidoso area after rain fell over the South Fork burn scar. A flood watch also covers parts of West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, where 1 to 3 inches of rain are forecast; heavy rain and runoff pose flash-flood and travel hazards, and a warning was issued for Glasscock County after radar indicated 1.5 to 2.5 inches had fallen. Scattered showers are expected in the Mid-South through Sunday, with storms possible late Monday ahead of a cold front. Jamaica has discontinued flash-flood watches and warnings for eight parishes, though scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible as a trough lingers.
