New Haven Fantasy of Lights Canceled After Storm Damage
Goodwill of Southern New England has canceled the 2026 Fantasy of Lights at New Haven’s Lighthouse Point Park after August storm damage left the grounds unsafe for a large public event, according to city parks officials. The cancellation breaks a 31-year holiday tradition, and Goodwill says it is deeply disappointed while prioritizing public safety and the park’s restoration. The organization plans a smaller tree-lighting gathering at the park pavilion and says it is exploring ways to bring the light show back next year; losing the event also creates a funding shortfall for Goodwill’s community programs.
