Colorado Mountain College students Kaden Matsuda, 19, and Jackson Donlon, 20, were found dead Wednesday in a basin on West Apostle Mountain after going missing during a planned weekend climb in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. They set out Friday intending to climb technical Ice Mountain and were expected back Sunday. A heavy snowstorm brought deep snow and hazardous conditions; searchers found their vehicle and a tent collapsed beneath snow before deploying about 60 rescue personnel with helicopters, drones and dogs to locate the men near each other. Authorities said foul play is not suspected and are awaiting autopsies and a coroner’s investigation before drawing conclusions about what happened. Their college and sheriff expressed condolences and thanked search teams for finding them ahead of another approaching storm.
