Tornado Warning Issued as Storms Hit Minnesota, Wisconsin
Unseasonably warm, humid conditions fueled severe thunderstorms across the Twin Cities and eastern Minnesota on Wednesday, prompting a tornado watch through 9 p.m. for much of the metro, surrounding counties and parts of western Wisconsin. Forecasters warned storms could produce tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds, though cloud cover could limit the threat. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for parts of Dakota and Goodhue counties in Minnesota and Pierce County, Wisconsin, after radar detected rotation; the storm also produced golf-ball-size hail. Storms moved northeast, with cooler, drier air expected behind them and milder-than-normal but cooler weather to follow.
