Wellness centers open, planned across cities
Wellness businesses are increasingly combining fitness with recovery, health services and community amenities. In Toronto, Wellness Republic plans to bring Pilates, yoga, recovery treatments, a café and coworking space together in a historic downtown building, while New Orleans’ Fit 4 You will pair a gym and dance studio with an internet café and neighborhood services. Charlotte’s STAT Wellness, which opened in South End, combines strength training and physical therapy with functional medicine, health coaching, testing and wellness treatments. A research review adds a broader perspective: despite shared interest in how built environments affect wellbeing, therapeutic-architecture and wellness-resort research remain largely disconnected from one another.
