Wendy’s Makes Breakfast Optional at US Restaurants
Wendy’s announced “Dave’s Way,” a turnaround plan aimed at reversing declining sales through a more focused menu, improved service and value offers, and expanded digital ordering. The company is testing changes including crispier bacon, a creamier Frosty, whole-leaf lettuce, and improved salads, while considering removing lower-selling items; a fully refreshed menu is expected in 2027. Breakfast will become optional at U.S. locations, allowing franchisees to focus on dayparts that are more profitable, a change Wendy’s estimates could boost restaurant-level earnings by as much as $200 million. On the same day, the company rejected a $1.4 billion buyout offer and adopted a poison-pill plan to deter a hostile takeover.
