Western Communities Schedule November Arts Events

Arts and cultural events around Northern California this week include the Placer Artists Tour, where nearly 130 artists will open studios and participate in demonstrations, and Vallejo and Benicia open-studio events showcasing local artists. Vallejo’s museum will host a free reception launching a three-week group exhibition ahead of the citywide studio tour, alongside a weekend lineup of dance, punk, goth and jazz events. In Vallejo, the school district also honored four student artists from 52 participants in its inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month art contest, recognizing works inspired by family, cultural traditions and classroom learning. Aspen has its own arts and entertainment offerings, including a Grateful Dead tribute show, tours of an exhibition devoted to Herbert Bayer, and a lecture by Navajo artist Steve Yazzie.
