Whitehaven Coal Reports Record September-Quarter Production
Whitehaven Coal reported record managed production of 11 million tonnes in the September quarter, up 22% from a year earlier, driven by stronger output in Queensland and New South Wales. Shipments and sales lagged production after loading-terminal disruptions at RG Tanna and PWCS pushed deliveries into the December quarter and increased inventories. The company said those delays should unwind in the second quarter, supporting stronger cash generation, while coal prices and the nearing completion of acquisition-related payments are expected to improve financial flexibility. Costs were at the low end of guidance, and Whitehaven reaffirmed its fiscal 2027 production and sales outlook.
