Wilmington Police Investigate Viral Video of Apparent Slam

Wilmington police are investigating a viral video of an officer’s physical encounter with 18-year-old Antwan Greene at a Maides Avenue property on Oct. 22. The footage shows Greene questioning officers’ presence before an officer attempts to detain him and forces him to the ground; Greene says he was trying to back away, reports bruising and a hand scar, and accuses police of racial profiling and unnecessary force. Police say the review will include video and witness statements, caution that online clips show only part of the incident, and have not publicly explained the initial encounter. Court records show citations were issued to at least three people involved, including for resisting an officer and marijuana possession, while Greene and his cousin deny smoking marijuana.
