Winter Preparations Begin Across Snow-Prone Regions
Public works departments in Ohio, Broome County, Kansas City, Kansas, and Merritt are preparing for winter by inspecting and servicing plows, replenishing de-icing supplies, and training crews. Ohio’s turnpike plans to deploy more than 100 plows, while Broome County has 33 heavy trucks ready; Kansas City says crews are prepared despite staffing falling from about 80 workers to 46, using digital mapping and other tools to work more efficiently. Merritt will prioritize main and emergency routes, school zones, and other key areas before lower-priority streets, and asks residents to move parked vehicles so crews can clear roads fully. In South Korea, crews are also preparing snow-clearing equipment as forecasters anticipate above-average winter precipitation, including heavy snow and rain. Across the reports, officials emphasize that readiness depends on conditions during each storm and that crews may need repeated passes to keep roads clear.
