Wisconsin Teen Detained Over Alleged Mass-Shooting Threat

Fond du Lac police are investigating online statements by a 15-year-old that referenced a potential mass shooting. A tip from an individual outside the United States was sent to the FBI and shared with local police through Wisconsin’s Division of Criminal Investigation. Detectives searched the teen’s home, seizing multiple firearms, a computer and a cellphone; forensic investigators are reviewing the devices and online communications. After a follow-up interview and evaluation by county youth justice social workers, the teen was placed in secure detention on Nov. 3. Police referred possible counts of terrorist threats and disorderly conduct to county Youth Justice for consideration, and the investigation remains active.
