Women sentenced in elder, benefits fraud cases
Antoinette Vazquez Cobain, 67, of Loveland, Colorado, was sentenced to six months in federal prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to wire fraud. Prosecutors said she used one Social Security number to obtain Social Security and Section 8 housing benefits while using another to work and conceal income and assets, continuing the scheme from 2007 to 2024. She must repay $247,303.48: $33,159.48 to the Social Security Administration and $214,144 to the Loveland Housing Authority. Federal officials said the fraud diverted resources intended for people eligible for public assistance.
