Women Sentenced in Separate Child Abuse Cases
Two Flint-area women were sentenced in separate child-abuse cases. Alexis Harris received a year in jail, credit for time served and three years of probation after pleading guilty to multiple child-abuse counts; her conditions include therapy and a ban on contact with or caregiving for children under 15. Krystal Rose Farmer was sentenced to five to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to abandoning and abusing her two young sons, who were found alone in squalid conditions. Separately, Abigayle Jewell Stevens was sentenced to two years for neglect of a dependent, with one year to be served in jail and the other suspended on probation, after a video showed her engaging in a sexual act while a child was present. Two reports cover the same pending case: Flint resident Tyishia Walker pleaded not guilty to a charge alleging she conspired to smuggle cocaine into Lakeland Correctional Facility; she remains in custody with bond set at $10,000.
