Women Sue Trader Joe’s Over E. Coli Cases
Two women from North Carolina and Massachusetts have sued Trader Joe’s, alleging they developed serious E. coli infections after eating its Tarragon Chicken Salad Wraps purchased at stores in Myrtle Beach and Allston in August. Both women were hospitalized, and public health officials classified their illnesses as part of a multistate outbreak; one woman’s attorneys said she faced a risk of kidney complications. Regulators have reported 50 illnesses and identified ready-to-eat multi-ingredient chicken wraps as the suspected source. The FDA said the wraps were removed from the market before their link to the outbreak was confirmed, while the plaintiffs’ attorneys say there has been no recall or public alert and allege Trader Joe’s has not disclosed the manufacturer or distribution details.
