Pastor Killed as Festival Sign Collapses in West Sussex
A large wooden sign collapsed at the Big Church Festival at Wiston Park in West Sussex, killing one man and injuring several others as strong winds affected the sold-out event. The victim has been identified as Robert Guanco, a pastor from Eastbourne, whose church paid tribute to him. Sussex Police, the Health and Safety Executive, and the local authority are investigating the incident, and organisers cancelled the remainder of the festival. Eyewitnesses described a massive crack as the sign reading 'Everything’s Unmissable' toppled in gusting wind, prompting aid from bystanders and first responders. Police are appealing for information or video footage relevant to the investigation. The Big Church Festival had been scheduled to run from Friday through Sunday, billed as the UK’s largest Christian festival.
