Two Contra Costa County Shootings Injure Officers

A woman allegedly opened fire on police during a mental-health check at a Richmond apartment on Key Boulevard Thursday evening, striking a veteran officer and prompting an hours-long standoff. The officer, who has more than 20 years of service, was hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to recover. The suspect, identified in one report as 39-year-old Jasmine Robinson, barricaded herself inside and continued firing, hitting a police vehicle and neighboring homes; no other residents or officers were injured. Police ordered nearby residents to shelter in place, deployed SWAT officers, crisis negotiators and chemical agents, and arrested the woman after she exited; she reportedly faces attempted-murder, assault and kidnapping charges. Separately, in Pittsburg, a 31-year-old suspect allegedly brought a firearm into a police-station holding cell after being arrested and booked, and a struggle with an officer led to a gunshot that injured both of them. The Pittsburg officer was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, the suspect was listed as stable, and the incident remains under investigation by the Pittsburg Police Department and Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
