Shareholders Sue New York Times Over Israel Coverage
Shareholders of The New York Times’ parent company, including Florida’s state pension fund and the conservative National Center for Public Policy Research, sued in New York County Supreme Court seeking internal records about the newspaper’s editorial oversight and coverage of the Israel-Hamas war. The investors say the board failed to enforce journalistic standards and have requested documents the company declined to provide for four months. The complaint cites an unnamed Jewish former employee who says she reported alleged antisemitism and anti-Israel bias at least 15 times before leaving in March 2026, but that managers and human resources dismissed her concerns. The filings also allege that repeated factual errors and disputed coverage could damage the Times’ credibility, which the company identifies as a key business asset. The Times had not immediately responded to requests for comment, while critics have separately pointed to recent corrections and editing controversies involving Israel-related coverage.
