Six Presumed Dead After Air Ambulance Disappears
All six people aboard a Hamilton-based air ambulance that disappeared over the Atlantic while flying from Bermuda to Boston are presumed dead after the U.S. Coast Guard ended its search and shifted to recovery efforts, following the discovery of debris near Nantucket. Those aboard were Canadians Philip Gregory Childerhose, Thomas Henry Farquhar, Sarah Jane Paton and Jolene Beth Weir, and Bermudians Marilyn Lavonne Bean and her son Sergio Wayne Lottimore; Bean was being flown for care after suffering a stroke. The crew reported electrical problems and declared an emergency before air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft, though the cause of the crash has not been established. Canada’s Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation with assistance from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board.
