Three Water-Related Incidents Leave Six Dead
Three separate water-related incidents left six people dead. Near Dubuque, Iowa, two occupants died after a boat struck a floating object on the Mississippi River and ejected all three people aboard; a nearby boater rescued the third occupant, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating. In the English Channel, two men died and at least three people were injured after an overloaded inflatable boat carrying about 80 people took on water; some people were stranded in the water, and injuries included fuel-related burns. In Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, two cousins, aged 13 and 14, drowned in the Kalyani River after going to play nearby.
