Raleigh Detective Fired After Six Criminal Charges
Raleigh police detective Christopher Andre Reed, 32, was arrested after an early-morning incident at a Carolina Ale House in Wake Forest. Police say he was intoxicated, tried to hit two customers, assaulted the manager and later assaulted a paramedic; charging documents also allege he threw his keys at a patron and yelled at police. Officers found Reed on Capital Boulevard with cuts after he allegedly tried to jump a barbed-wire fence and refused their instructions. He faces six charges, including assault on emergency personnel and a government official, disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer. The Raleigh Police Department terminated Reed, who had served as a detective since 2016, saying employees are held to high standards on and off duty. Reed missed his scheduled first court appearance, and his next appearance is set for Oct. 28.
