Tucson Father Arrested After 4-Year-Old Shoots Himself
A 4-year-old boy shot himself in the foot with an unsecured handgun at his Tucson home on Oct. 8, suffering injuries described as non-life-threatening. Pima County sheriff’s investigators say the child’s father, 31-year-old Tyler Lake, left the gun on a bedroom dresser while children were unattended in the room; court documents also describe two other firearms in the bedroom. Lake was arrested and charged with one count of child abuse and two counts of child endangerment, then released to pretrial services after appearing in court Oct. 9; his next appearance is scheduled for Oct. 29. The Arizona Department of Child Safety was notified, and the sheriff’s department urged gun owners to keep firearms locked and inaccessible to children.
