Philadelphia Officer Killed in West Philadelphia Shooting
A gunman ambushed two Philadelphia police officers early Saturday on North 52nd Street in West Philadelphia after they responded to a report of a person with a gun. Officer Shane Seiber, 40, a 10-year department veteran and father of two, died at the hospital. His 33-year-old partner, a father of five, was seriously wounded and later reported in stable condition. Investigators recovered two handguns and a shotgun, including a handgun belonging to one of the wounded officers. City officials praised the officers and thanked first responders and hospital staff. No contested claims identified in available reporting. Authorities had not publicly identified the suspect or announced charges in the reports provided.
