Bridgeport Man Killed in City’s Eighth Homicide

Nelson Manuel Batista, 48, of Bridgeport, died after being shot in the chest near Cottage Street and Park Avenue around 9 a.m. Monday. He was found beside his car and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police are investigating, no arrests have been reported, and the intersection was closed for about two hours while investigators processed the scene.
