Former Priest Pleads No Contest to Child-Sex Charges
Andrew Showers, 38, a former Madison-area priest, entered a no-contest plea in Waupaca County court to attempted child enticement, attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child, and possession of child sexual abuse material. The court found him guilty, revoked his cash bond, and requested a presentence investigation. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2027. The charges stem from an investigation in which Showers allegedly arranged to meet someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl, who was an undercover police officer, and from child sexual abuse material found on his devices. Other Waupaca County counts were dismissed but may be considered at sentencing. Showers faces separate attempted grooming and bail-jumping charges in Marathon County, where a court conference is scheduled for Oct. 22.
