Missing DC Man’s Remains Ruled Homicide

D.C. police are investigating the death of 25-year-old Jahari Garrett as a homicide after identifying his remains, found May 15, 2026, in an advanced state of decomposition behind the 2900 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Garrett had been reported missing and was last seen April 20 on Georgia Avenue, less than two miles from where his remains were found. The medical examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide, but the cause remains undetermined. Police are seeking information and offer a reward of up to $25,000 for tips leading to an arrest. A separate report said two people were arrested for trespassing during an investigation at a nearby business, but any connection to Garrett’s death is unclear.
