Woman arrested after three wounded in Laney High School tailgate shooting

Three people were shot in the tailgate area outside Lucy C. Laney High School in Augusta, Georgia, at about 6:05 p.m. on Oct. 17, during a homecoming football game. Authorities said the shooting followed a physical altercation between two women; 27-year-old Aiyana Lane allegedly pulled a handgun and fired at least once. Lane was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault and several firearm- and school-zone-related offenses. The three victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and officials said no students were injured. A school police officer was hurt while responding to a separate altercation and was recovering.
