Fresno Teen Arrested in Tower District Double Shooting

A 16-year-old from Fowler was arrested in connection with a shooting outside Fresno’s MIA Nightclub that injured two people, including an uninvolved bystander waiting to enter; both victims’ injuries were non-life-threatening. Police say a dispute between two groups escalated and the suspect fired nine shots into a crowded sidewalk. Investigators used surveillance footage, social media video and community tips to identify him, and are examining possible gang connections and whether others were with him. The incident was the fourth Tower District shooting since May, renewing concerns about safety in the nightlife area. Fresno officials plan to increase police presence and consider restrictions on parking and vendors, along with additional lighting and security cameras, citing crowding and recurring violence.
