Student Dies, Classmate Injured in Atlanta Shooting

A student died and another was injured in a shooting at Atlanta Technical College around 8:45 a.m. Monday. Police said preliminary findings indicate a firearm accidentally discharged in a classroom, striking the second student in the leg; the student carrying the gun then went to a bathroom, where he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The injured student was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police described the incident as isolated, and the college secured the campus before resuming classes and operations. The investigation is ongoing.
