Wichita Soccer Crash Kills Two, Injures 10
A pickup truck drove onto a youth soccer field at Wichita’s Stryker Sports Complex, killing 6-year-old Cole Adrian and 35-year-old Nicholas Schafer and injuring 10 others, ages 5 to 68. The 34-year-old driver from Garden City was released after police and prosecutors concluded there was not probable cause to arrest her based on evidence then available; officials stressed that the decision does not rule out future charges. Investigators are awaiting toxicology results, examining the truck and its data, and have interviewed nearly 50 witnesses and others. Police say the driver cooperated, has a valid license and no documented criminal history, and they have rejected online claims about her immigration status or law-enforcement ties. Prosecutors say there is no timeline for a charging decision and have urged the public to be patient while the investigation continues.
