Bite of Seattle Suspect Released to Home Detention
A judge ordered the 15-year-old charged in connection with the July 26 Bite of Seattle shooting released from juvenile detention to 24-hour electronic home monitoring at his father’s home, with an adult present. The shooting left three people dead and four injured. Judge Veronica Galván cited new evidence and a “colorable claim of self-defense”; the defense argued ballistic evidence does not connect the teen to the deaths or injuries, while prosecutors contend he fired into the crowd and remains a danger to the public. The teen faces first-degree assault and unlawful firearm possession charges, and prosecutors are seeking to have him tried as an adult. Release conditions include mental-health treatment, school participation, and no contact with people involved in the case or entry to Seattle Center.
