British Mother Dies Rescuing Sons in Bahamas
A 36-year-old British woman died on Oct. 20 after strong currents swept her and her two sons into difficulty during a family snorkeling excursion near Bimini in the Bahamas. She entered the water to rescue the boys; a water-taxi crew and others brought them ashore, where CPR was attempted before she was pronounced dead at a local clinic. The boys were rescued, but authorities have not publicly detailed their condition. Police said foul play is not suspected, and an autopsy is planned. The family was visiting as part of a cruise, and the British government said it is supporting the family and in contact with local authorities.
