Defense Seeks Daughter's Counseling Records in Sullivan Captivity Case

Kimberly Sullivan’s defense is seeking access to confidential counseling records belonging to her daughter, identified in court filings as a potentially important witness in Sullivan’s case. The filings say the daughter told police in March 2025 that she had experienced prolonged sexual assault, trauma-related memory problems, and controlling behavior by her mother; they do not identify the alleged assailant. Waterbury police have confirmed they are investigating a sexual-abuse complaint but have not provided further details. Sullivan has pleaded not guilty to charges alleging she confined and abused her stepson for years; police say he set fire to the family home in February 2025 in an attempt to escape. A hearing on the records request is expected Nov. 23, with jury selection in Sullivan’s trial anticipated in January.
