Bend Shooter’s Rescuer Regrets Not Saving Four
Kaylub Giamanco, a Bend carpenter and father of two Silver Rail Elementary students, says he feels he failed the families of children and a teacher killed when he confronted and fatally shot a 16-year-old gunman at the school. After seeing the armed teenager fire at people outside, Giamanco called 911, then entered the building, believing others would die if he waited. He has described the decision as potentially his last act and said he regrets not arriving sooner to save everyone. Separately, a report says investigators are examining possible links between the shooter and the 764 extremist network; that connection has not been established.
