Machado Announces Return to Venezuela
Venezuelan opposition leader and 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado announced Sunday that she had returned to Venezuela after more than 10 months in exile, writing, “I am here. With you.” Supporters welcomed her in Barquisimeto, and allies confirmed her arrival but did not say how she entered the country. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, a longtime Nicolás Maduro ally, remains in power with U.S. backing, and no election date has been set. Machado and her movement have been excluded from talks between the interim government and parts of the opposition, and she has called for elections and a democratic transition. She has also said she plans to meet earthquake survivors and families of political prisoners.
Where do you stand?
