Seven killed in southern Jordan church shooting
Gunmen opened fire inside in Jordan's southern Karak governorate on Friday during a funeral, according to the country's state broadcaster and state news agency. Local media and preliminary reports said at least seven people were killed and about ten wounded, some critically. Authorities had not confirmed a final toll. Police cordoned off the area around the church. State television, citing the Public Security Directorate, said security forces were pursuing the suspects. Accounts differed on the attackers: a wire summary described two unidentified gunmen, while other reports referred to a group of unidentified armed men or did not specify a number. Identities and motive were not known.
