Authorities Search for Missing People, Suspect

Authorities are seeking the public’s help in several separate missing-person cases. In Hickory, North Carolina, a Silver Alert is active for 66-year-old Robert Warren Smith, who may have dementia or Alzheimer’s and was last seen driving a white Kia Stinger; searches are also underway for a 17-year-old in Pennsylvania, a 16-year-old in Minnesota, and 12-year-old Chad Brown, last seen near Kuykendahl Road in Harris County, Texas. Near Salem, South Dakota, officials are searching for a 6-year-old boy with severe autism, and Scotland County, North Carolina, deputies are looking for 18-year-old Jacob Aharon Heckler, whose cognitive issues may make unfamiliar situations difficult to navigate; officials ask anyone with information to contact local authorities or call 911 if the child is seen or may be in danger. In Arlington, Tennessee, an elementary school was briefly placed on precautionary lockdown while deputies searched nearby for a possible armed suspect after a reported disturbance.
