Rights group blames Sudanese army drone strike for over 100 dead at Nyala market

A drone strike hit a crowded market in Nyala, South Darfur, on Monday, killing more than 100 people and injuring 113, according to Emergency Lawyers, which blamed Sudan’s military and called for an independent investigation. Doctors Without Borders reported that its hospital received 36 bodies and treated more than 150 injured people; the differing figures reflect reports from separate sources. The charity said a second strike hit a civilian neighborhood and warned that attacks on markets threaten civilians’ access to food and supplies. The strike occurred amid Sudan’s war between the military and the Rapid Support Forces, with both sides accused of using drones against civilian areas and infrastructure.
