Police Lift San Diego Islamic Center Lockdown After Woman Search
A lockdown at the Islamic Center of San Diego was lifted Tuesday after police determined a possibly armed woman who had visited the site was no longer in San Diego County. The woman was reported driving erratically and making suicidal statements; she spoke with a security guard and left before officers arrived. Police said she made no direct threat against the center or another mosque, and officers searched the area, warned the public not to approach her and checked other Islamic centers as a precaution. The center was the scene of a May shooting in which two teenage gunmen killed three people; the attack was investigated as a hate crime.
