Houston resident critically wounds alleged apartment intruder
A man was critically wounded after a Houston apartment resident shot him once around 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, as he allegedly tried to force his way into the resident’s home on Bering Drive. Police said the resident, who was home with his girlfriend and 1-year-old child, heard someone trying to enter, armed himself with a rifle and opened the door; the visitor then pushed inside while insisting the apartment was his. The man was wearing an orange suit and top hat resembling a costume from “Dumb and Dumber,” and was taken to hospital with an upper-body gunshot wound. Investigators believe he may live in the same complex and could have been intoxicated and mistaken about which apartment was his, but that remains under investigation. The resident and his girlfriend were unharmed and are cooperating; police have not announced whether charges will be filed.
