Three Dallas Shootings Kill Four, Injure 15

Four people were killed and at least 15 injured in three separate shootings in Dallas Deep Ellum between about 12:20 and 1:35 a.m. Sunday. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux briefed reporters Sunday. Police closed off the area around 1 a.m., arrested one suspect, and detained some additional people. Officers had increased presence ahead of the holiday. No officers were injured. Officers responding in the 4900 block of Wadsworth Drive found an unresponsive 3-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. Police had not identified the deceased. The injury total was still being determined as some people took themselves to the hospital. Comeaux said, "This is a really big scene. It's spread out." He said police were interviewing arrested individuals, "still trying to figure out exactly how it ties into all the shootings out here." He said the events were "completely unacceptable to take place in Dallas." Investigators had not determined whether the three shootings were connected. CBS News headlined 5 wounded; other coverage put injuries at least at 15. One WFAA headline said at least 3 killed. Links between the shootings, identities of the dead, final tallies, and charges remained unresolved.
