Jackson State and Delaware Cancel Classes After Nearby Shootings

Jackson State University canceled undergraduate classes Monday and Tuesday after a shooting at a Jackson nightclub killed students Lovdia Poindexter, 20, and Jada Henderson, 18, and injured six others. Graduate classes will move online, while the university encouraged students and employees to seek counseling and other support. The University of Delaware canceled Monday classes after six people were shot near campus in Newark; police said there was no ongoing threat, and officials said the cancellation was intended to give the campus community time to process the incident. With the university already closed Tuesday for Election Day, classes are scheduled to resume Wednesday, while campus services remain open and counseling is available.
