Bridgeport man killed in Mill Hill shooting, several detained

Bernard Fludd, 38, died after being shot Monday evening on Mill Hill Avenue near Barnum Avenue in Bridgeport, the city’s ninth homicide of the year. Police detained several people seen entering a nearby home after the shooting and searched it under a warrant; no charges or motive have been announced. Separately, Syncaire Williams, 20, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing the firearm used in the August killing of Johnny Nesmith, 46, at the P.T. Barnum housing complex. Prosecutors determined Williams shot Nesmith in self-defense after surveillance footage showed both men firing, but police said Williams was prohibited from possessing the gun; he was also charged in an unrelated alleged home invasion and burglary.
