Missing Philadelphia Girl Found Dead; Foster Mother Charged

Ten-year-old Jalayshia “Malayshia” Alford, last seen in West Philadelphia on Oct. 26, was found dead in the trunk of a car in Lindenwold, New Jersey, after a 10-day search involving local police, the FBI and New Jersey authorities. Philadelphia prosecutors charged her foster mother, 36-year-old Caprice Williams, with murder, abuse of a corpse and related offenses. Prosecutors said bruising and scarring on Alford’s body suggested a possible history of physical abuse, but they have not publicly detailed the cause of death or alleged abuse. Investigators are examining the timeline of her disappearance and whether anyone else helped dispose of her remains.
