Authorities Seize 1,830 Pounds Meth Across Three Regions
U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized about 491 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in a leek shipment at the Pharr Port of Entry in Texas, with an estimated street value of nearly $1 million. In a separate California case, Border Patrol agents found 306 pounds of methamphetamine in a vehicle stopped near Camp Pendleton on Interstate 5; a canine alerted agents to 36 concealed packages. Philippine authorities also seized 200 kilograms of methamphetamine, valued at about $21 million, from a container at Manila’s port, which they said originated in Laos. The cases highlight methamphetamine trafficking through both land and maritime routes, as authorities cite intelligence-sharing and coordinated enforcement as important tools against drug networks.
