Four European Flights Face Suspected Bomb Threats
Suspected bomb threats targeted at least four passenger flights across Europe on Tuesday, prompting diversions, emergency landings and security inspections in Poland, Spain and Bulgaria; all aircraft landed safely. In Poland, a LOT flight from London carrying 181 people diverted to Warsaw-Modlin, while an SAS flight from Copenhagen landed at Warsaw Chopin; inspections found no explosives, and both airports resumed normal operations after temporary restrictions. A Ryanair flight from Manchester landed at Murcia in Spain with 121 people aboard, and a flight from Israel landed at Sofia, where authorities also carried out checks. The incidents followed a Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia that diverted to Budapest the previous day after a mid-air threat; checks there also found nothing.
