Brandon Citibank Shooting Leaves One Wounded
A shooting at Citibank Center in Brandon, near Tampa, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, around noon left two people dead, including the suspected gunman. Sheriff Chad Chronister first said a suspect was in custody, then wrote the suspect was deceased. SWAT and deputies cleared the four-building campus. Employees and children evacuated, including from a daycare. Hillsborough College issued a shelter-in-place order. Alerts told people to stay indoors and avoid Queens Palm Drive and Falkenburg Road. The New York Post, citing scanners, reported a grey vehicle crashed into the building before a gunman with a shotgun and handgun opened fire, and that a victim found wounded in the cafeteria later died. The Post said the shooter was believed to be targeting a vendor. Parent Doug Merritt said his son was very close, left his things, and escaped; Merritt said he wanted him safe and was upset. Citi said it was coordinating with law enforcement on the Tampa incident. One source put campus employees at about 25,000; others said Citi employs over 10,000 in the Tampa region. Officials had not released identities or how the two died.
