Philadelphia Foster Mother Charged in Girl’s Murder

Ten-year-old Malayshia Alford, last seen at her foster home in West Philadelphia on Oct. 22 and reported missing four days later, was found dead in the trunk of a car in Lindenwold, New Jersey. Investigators said surveillance footage from Oct. 26 appeared to show her body being removed from the home, and information from someone connected to the vehicle led police to the car. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma, and prosecutors said there were indications of abuse. Alford’s 36-year-old foster mother, Caprice Williams, has been charged with murder and related offenses, including child endangerment, evidence tampering and abuse of a corpse; the charges are allegations, and Williams is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Authorities continue investigating.
