Bomb alert diverts Dublin-Rome flight to French airbase

An Aer Lingus Airbus A320 flight EI402 from Dublin to Rome was diverted to Évreux-Fauville Air Base in Normandy on Thursday, November 5, 2026, after a bomb alert. The flight carried 151 passengers and six crew. Aer Lingus said "Flight EI402 from Dublin to Rome diverted to Normandy this morning as a security precaution." The French prime minister's office said it was "monitoring the situation closely." Flightradar24 showed the plane cruising at 37,000 feet west of Paris about an hour in, then descending and looping near Chartres before landing at the base. A bomb squad was deployed and passengers and crew were moved to a safe place. Aer Lingus called it a security precaution; the French prime minister's office called it a bomb alert. Outlets reported a bomb threat. Authorities said no explosive devices were found. No claims of responsibility were made and authorities have not identified suspects. At least nine flights in Europe faced bomb threats this week. Two days earlier, seven aircraft from LOT Polish Airlines, SAS, Wizz Air and Ryanair were searched or diverted over hoax threats, and a Polish airport briefly closed. A separate Tuesday threat at Syros targeted Israel-bound cruise ship Crown Iris.
